Krista Hill, MD
Family Medicine
Krista Hill, MD is a think physician who earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After completing her residency in Family Medicine at Clarkson Family Medicine, Dr. Hill developed a passion for patient care to help families lead healthier lives. With a warm and approachable demeanor, she specializes in Family Medicine, focusing on each patient’s unique needs and ensuring they receive the comprehensive care they deserve.
Dr. Krista Hill was the first in her family to go into medicine. Initially, she considered a career in teaching, as many of her family members are teachers. However, her path shifted towards medicine during college after volunteering in an Emergency Room. This experience helped her realize that, like teaching, medicine offers the opportunity to help others. She chose family medicine because it allowed her to build deep relationships with her patients. Many of her patients have been under her care for decades. Dr. Hill shares, “I love family medicine due to the relationships you build with patients. At the start of my career I knew this was important but midway through it is even more important.” She enjoys caring for the entire family, from children to great-grandparents, with particular interests in pediatrics and geriatrics. She finds it rewarding when patients refer their loved ones to her for long-term care.
She believes that primary care specialties are fundamental to healthcare. “Primary Care Physicians are more than medical providers,” she shared, “they also serve as guides who help patients navigate the healthcare system. They focus on the whole patient and build unique relationships among medical specialties. Primary care physicians often identify an issue when a patient feels unwell without specific complaints, either by diagnosing the problem or by coordinating with the appropriate specialist. They also help many patients reduce the number of doctors they need to see by managing various conditions.”
For Dr. Hill, “Whole Person Healthcare” means recognizing that a patient is more than a collection of diagnoses and that many factors influence their health. It also underscores the importance of a team approach, involving physicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and the patient’s insights to optimize care, whether for illness or preventative measures. As healthcare becomes more complex, a larger, well-coordinated team must manage everything effectively and improve a patient’s symptoms and long-term health.
Dr. Hill believes her patients would describe her as a good listener who is thorough and kind. She offers some tips for a better visit experience: always bring a list of your medications (either written down or as photos of your prescription bottles) and, if you have multiple concerns, write them down. A list helps prioritize issues and can indicate if an additional visit is needed to address everything thoroughly. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family; she and her husband have two children who keep them busy. Her other interests include reading, traveling, and running.
