Jacqueline Hanson, DO

Family Medicine

Jacqueline Hanson, DO, is a Family Medicine physician with a Master’s in Bioethics, practicing at Think Whole Person Healthcare. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, as the youngest in a large family,

Jacqueline is a first-generation physician whose humble roots fuel her empathetic approach to patient care. She earned her BA in Psychology with a minor in Art History from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her Doctor of Osteopathy and MA in Bioethics from Kansas City University in Kansas City, Missouri. A proud Husker fan—where #15 will always be Tommy Frazier—Jacqueline enjoys sports, music, and art, with fond memories of swimming at city pools like Hitchcock Pool, thanks to her lifeguard sister.

Jacqueline’s calling to healthcare emerged in high school, shaped by two significant family medical experiences: her own diagnosis of severe scoliosis requiring surgery and her seven-year-old nephew’s battle with a brain tumor, which involved emergency surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Driving her nephew to physical therapy appointments exposed her to the profound impact of multidisciplinary healthcare teams, inspiring her to become part of patients’ healing journeys, particularly in women’s health, mental health, and LGBTQIA health.

To Jacqueline, Whole Person Healthcare means treating patients with empathy and understanding, recognizing their unique backgrounds and needs beyond their medical conditions. Her approach, informed by her bioethics training, emphasizes listening and tailoring care to align with patients’ values, ensuring they feel heard and supported, especially in areas like women’s health and mental health where disparities in care are common.

Jacqueline joined Think Whole Person Healthcare for its commitment to accessible, patient-centered care that aligns with her mission to serve diverse populations, including those often underserved in traditional healthcare settings. She values Think’s collaborative model, which allows her to integrate her expertise in family medicine and bioethics to address complex health needs, making a tangible difference in patients’ lives while fostering trust and connection.
Patients would likely describe Jacqueline as down-to-earth and an attentive listener who makes them feel valued and understood. Her ability to connect personally, shaped by her own experiences with illness and her family’s support during her nephew’s recovery, allows her to build strong, trusting relationships with patients, ensuring their care feels personalized and empowering.

When not practicing medicine, Jacqueline immerses herself in music, attending concerts, listening to both new and classic favorites, and enjoying art festivals and museums, inspired by her time studying abroad in London where she visited iconic sites like Stonehenge and Westminster Abbey. She loves gathering with friends and family, cheering for Husker football and soccer, and dreams of visiting the Galapagos Islands to explore its unique ecosystem if time, money, and ability were no barriers.
