Erica Irwin, LIMHP
Behavioral Health
Erica Irwin, LIMHP, is a licensed independent mental health practitioner and Nebraska native with deep roots in Papillion. She earned her degrees from Saint Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis. After spending 20 years in St. Louis, she returned to Nebraska post-COVID, drawn by family proximity, small-town charm, and easy access to Runzas.
Erica’s journey into healthcare began with a passion for supporting emotional well-being, particularly after recognizing the transformative potential of therapy in helping people live more aligned and examined lives. She has a special affinity for working with children and parents affected by trauma, as well as individuals struggling with emotional dysregulation and poor self-image. She is a nationally certified trainer in the Integrated Treatment of Complex Trauma.
Whole Person Healthcare, to Erica, means integrating physical and behavioral health services in one location, powerfully reinforcing that mental well-being is inseparable from physical health. This approach reduces barriers to behavioral health care—it’s right alongside your doctor’s office—and helps people realize how much better they can feel emotionally and physically through therapy, even when life seems “okay.” Therapy fosters self-reflection amid busy autopilot modes, enabling individuals to identify their values and live in alignment with them. Erica believes the unexamined life is not worth living and views her role as a warm, accepting guide who can be there when needed to promote growth.
Erica joined Think Whole Person Healthcare because its integrated model embodies true Whole Person Healthcare, seamlessly combining physical and behavioral services to lower access barriers and emphasize the link between mind and body. To her, Whole Person Healthcare means integrating physical and behavioral health services in one location, powerfully reinforcing that mental well-being is inseparable from physical health. She sees this as a game-changer for patients, allowing therapy to enhance overall well-being without silos.
Patients describe Erica as warm and accepting, yet she challenges her patients when the moment demands it, creating a safe space for profound change. One standout story involves a client who told a colleague that therapy with Erica was so life-altering that she now divides her life into “before therapy” and “after therapy” eras.
Outside work, she enjoys dancing, watercolor painting, reading, and walking. If time, money, and ability were no object, she’d hike and swim in natural lakes in Banff or Patagonia, or anywhere similar.
