Brandy Jacobson, APRN

Family Medicine

When Brandy was growing up, she had initially wanted to become a veterinarian. From bandaging wounded chickens after raccoon attacks to assisting with the breech birth of baby goats, helping those in need had been part of Brandy’s life from a young age. As a teenager, her care transferred from animals to people when she helped care for her aging grandparents. After her grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and underwent treatment at the distant MD Anderson Cancer Center, Brandy often tended to him when he was too exhausted from the long drives post-chemo or radiation. One day, her grandfather informed his healthcare team that “his granddaughter could provide the care at home” and asked them to send her the necessary supplies. Brandy learned how to remove sutures, care for skin grafts, and even provide wound care after a llama attack. This formative experience caring for her grandfather inspired her to redirect her career pursuit from veterinarian school to nursing.

She graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston as a Family Nurse Practitioner in August 2022.

Her goal is to improve her patient’s quality of life so they can pursue their passions and live lives they are proud of at every age. Brandy’s personal mission is to make a difference in the world by creating healthier communities and making a positive impact on the lives of others. One day, she wants to participate in a healthcare mission trip, providing care to those who need it most.

Brandy enjoys spending time off with her family and pursuing various outdoor adventures together, such as playing sports, traveling, hiking, camping, skiing, or enjoying the sun at the lake or beach. She firmly believes that time spent in nature is healing for the body, mind, and soul.
