Alison Kempe, LIMHP

Behavioral Health

Alison Kampe, LIMHP, CMSW, PLADC, is a behavioral health therapist, clinical social worker, and addiction specialist dedicated to empowering individuals and families from marginalized communities. Born in Tucson, Arizona, she primarily grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where she cherishes memories of her large family of seven siblings, hosting foster children, caring for the neighborhood, and participating in drama, choirs, and musicals. She earned her BSW and MSW from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, with additional classes at Bellevue University for her drug and alcohol counseling license.

From a young age, Alison was drawn to helping professions, initially considering roles like juvenile judge, guardian ad litem, or child welfare worker. During college, she realized clinical social work, providing therapy through a social work lens, was the perfect fit, aligning with her natural ability to build strong connections and her desire to support others. Her personal history with mental health and addiction, deepened by her sister Beth’s passing in 2019 after struggles with these issues, profoundly shaped her commitment to compassionate care, ensuring patients receive the humanity and support they deserve.

To Alison, Whole Person Healthcare means viewing individuals holistically, not as numbers or referrals. but as whole beings whose healing requires understanding their environment, authentic identity, and systemic barriers. Her role involves a comprehensive initial assessment and ongoing evaluation to align care with patients’ goals, specializing in complex trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, domestic violence, neurodivergence (ADHD and Autism Spectrum), and working with indigenous populations. She is passionate  about normalizing the human experience of mental health struggles and emphasizing that seeking connection with a therapist or others is a strength, not a weakness, while making deep connections to share in patients’ wins and hardest chapters.

Alison joined Think Whole Person Healthcare for its organically patient-centered approach, where professionals coordinate and collaborate on behalf of patients, improving access and allowing individuals to focus on holistic wellbeing without navigating complex systems. She views the model as a mission-driven effort that truly sees people as individuals, aligning with her background in program creation and systemic improvements across various care levels. Her additional credentials, including Goodrich Scholar alumni status, drug and alcohol counseling expertise, Gandhi Symposium 2019 expert panelist role (diversity perspective as a Native American former foster youth), and membership in Bikers Against Child Abuse from 2014-2023, enhance her contributions to this integrated environment.

Patients describe Alison as someone who establishes rapport easily, creating a non-judgmental, open space where they feel safe being their authentic selves. She’s “down to earth” and meets them exactly where they are. A resonant story from her career involves assisting a Native American patient in an inpatient setting who faced multiple hospitalizations, substance use, and environmental challenges; by confronting hard truths and offering unconditional love and support, Alison helped turn their life around, and today they thrive as an individual, mother, and community member.

Alison enjoys motorcycles, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and spending time with her children and her fur child, a Husky. If time, money, and ability were no issue, she would love to visit Egypt to explore its historical sites and artifacts.
