Tyler Sherman, APRN
Family Medicine
Tyler Sherman, APRN, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner at think who specializes in Family Medicine. Growing up in Belden, Nebraska, Tyler learned the importance of service and connection. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Political Science from Wayne State College, then completed an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).
Tyler became interested in healthcare during his senior year of high school after his father was in a serious truck accident. The kindness of the nurses made a difficult time easier and inspired him to pursue a career in nursing. This experience led him to change his studies and eventually become a nurse practitioner so he could help patients every day.
For Tyler, Whole Person Healthcare is about providing high-quality care as part of a team. He offers practical, patient-focused solutions for issues like lacerations, wounds, and sports injuries, and he encourages prevention and wellness. Tyler involves patients in their care, working with them to set goals and choose treatments that fit their needs. He often says, “Control what you can control.” As an advocate, he helps patients become their best selves through listening, education, and support.
Tyler joined think because of its strong commitment to patient advocacy and coordinated follow-up care. He appreciates a model where specialties work together under one roof, removing barriers and making healthcare truly accessible. This integrated approach aligns perfectly with his belief that comprehensive, team-based care leads to better outcomes and allows him to advocate effectively for patients on their full health journey.
Patients describe Tyler as an advocate, a good listener, and a patient provider who always keeps their best interests and long-term well-being in mind. One particularly rewarding story from his time in a rural ER involved responding to a 2 a.m. call for an unresponsive community member. Tyler recalls, “Coming from a rural ER, I was the provider answering those 2am calls. One of those 2am calls was an unresponsive community member. Without going into detail, being able to shake their hand during follow-up visits, and and having them introduce you as “the one who saved my life” to their family was such a rewarding experience.” Through skilled care and dedicated follow-up, the patient recovered. A powerful reminder of the impact consistent, compassionate care can have.
Outside of work, Tyler likes home renovations, riding his motorcycle, and following sports, especially Nebrasketball. He believes in giving back to the community, as shown by his work creating a sports medicine program for local athletes. If he could go anywhere, he would visit Ireland or Japan to experience their cultures and landscapes.
