Kimberly Joshi, PA-C

ThinkQuick Walk-in Clinic

Kimberly Joshi, PA-C, ND, is a physician assistant and naturopathic doctor with 22 years of experience in toxicology, urgent and primary care, functional medicine, pediatric neurology, and, most recently, allergy, asthma, and immunology at Boys Town, where she still works part-time. She grew up in Alliance, Nebraska, and ran track and cross country in high school. Kimberly earned her Bachelor of Science with high distinction in Psychology, along with minors in biology and chemistry, from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in the 1990s, when the Huskers won back-to-back national championships. She studied naturopathic medicine and midwifery at Bastyr University in Seattle, graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (now Sonoran University) in Tempe, Arizona, and completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2003.

After finishing at UNL, Kimberly was unsure about her career direction. An aptitude test led her to naturopathic medicine, which matched her belief that human health is closely connected to the health of the planet and that nature should be part of healthcare. Knowing she might live in a state that does not license naturopathic doctors, she also trained as a physician assistant at UNMC so she could practice fully wherever she lived. This dual path has guided her work for over twenty years in acute care, functional medicine, and specialty areas.

Kimberly’s approach is shaped by her background in naturopathic and functional medicine. She believes the body, environment, lifestyle, and natural systems are all connected, and that care is most effective when these connections are honored. She applies this perspective in both primary and specialty care, whether she is treating toxicity, chronic conditions, pediatric neurology, or allergy, asthma, and immunology. Her goal is to treat the whole person, not just symptoms, and to make nature and prevention part of daily health.

Her training as both a PA and ND, along with her experience in conventional and functional medicine, fits well with an integrated care model that considers physical, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Working with other specialists in a coordinated way allows patients to get comprehensive care that includes the connections between body, environment, and daily life.

When visiting Kimberly, patients meet a clinician who has experience with many age groups and settings, from urgent and primary care to pediatric neurology and allergy/immunology. Kimberly combines her conventional training with a naturopathic focus on root causes, prevention, and the role of nature in healing. This broad background helps people who need both immediate solutions and long-term wellness support.

Kimberly enjoys running and swimming and loves spending time outdoors. She and her husband travel to visit three of their four adult children, who live in other states or abroad. She likes watching her youngest play soccer and plans to follow him to college next year, when she and her husband will become empty nesters with their rescue German Shepherd, Hazel. Kimberly also enjoys traveling overseas, learning about history and other cultures, and trying new foods.

Tyler Sherman, APRN, FNP-C

Family Medicine

Tyler Sherman, APRN, FNP-C, is a Family Nurse Practitioner at think who specializes in Family Medicine. Growing up in Belden, Nebraska, Tyler learned the importance of service and connection. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Political Science from Wayne State College, then completed an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).

Tyler became interested in healthcare during his senior year of high school after his father was in a serious truck accident. The kindness of the nurses made a difficult time easier and inspired him to pursue a career in nursing. This experience led him to change his studies and eventually become a nurse practitioner so he could help patients every day.

For Tyler, Whole Person Healthcare is about providing high-quality care as part of a team. He offers practical, patient-focused solutions for issues like lacerations, wounds, and sports injuries, and he encourages prevention and wellness. Tyler involves patients in their care, working with them to set goals and choose treatments that fit their needs. He often says, “Control what you can control.” As an advocate, he helps patients become their best selves through listening, education, and support.

Tyler joined think because of its strong commitment to patient advocacy and coordinated follow-up care. He appreciates a model where specialties work together under one roof, removing barriers and making healthcare truly accessible. This integrated approach aligns perfectly with his belief that comprehensive, team-based care leads to better outcomes and allows him to advocate effectively for patients on their full health journey.

Patients describe Tyler as an advocate, a good listener, and a patient provider who always keeps their best interests and long-term well-being in mind. One particularly rewarding story from his time in a rural ER involved responding to a 2 a.m. call for an unresponsive community member. Tyler recalls, “Coming from a rural ER, I was the provider answering those 2am calls. One of those 2am calls was an unresponsive community member. Without going into detail, being able to shake their hand during follow-up visits, and and having them introduce you as “the one who saved my life” to their family was such a rewarding experience.” Through skilled care and dedicated follow-up, the patient recovered. A powerful reminder of the impact consistent, compassionate care can have.

Outside of work, Tyler likes home renovations, riding his motorcycle, and following sports, especially Nebrasketball. He believes in giving back to the community, as shown by his work creating a sports medicine program for local athletes. If he could go anywhere, he would visit Ireland or Japan to experience their cultures and landscapes.

Risa Zimmerman, MPAS, PA-C

Family Medicine

Risa Zimmerman, PA-C, MPAS, MBA, is a Physician Assistant who works in ThinkQuick Walk-in Clinic at Think Whole Person Healthcare. She brings more than 30 years of clinical experience and is also the Associate Program Director at the College of Saint Mary Physician Assistant Program. Risa grew up in Friend, Nebraska, where she remembers spending summer days at the local pool and staying out until the 9 o’clock whistle meant it was time to go home. She earned her Physician Assistant degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in 1992, completed a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at UNMC in 2004, and received an MBA in Healthcare from Creighton University in 2020.

Risa’s interest in medicine began as a child after watching the television show “Emergency!” That early inspiration led her to become a Physician Assistant. For much of her 30-year career, she cared for patients undergoing stem cell transplants. Later, she became interested in urgent care and, more recently, in teaching and mentoring future PAs at the College of Saint Mary, where she focuses on healthcare policy, advocacy, and leadership.

For Risa, Whole Person Healthcare means working together as partners, with patients and their healthcare team. She believes a diagnosis or health issue affects more than just the body; it can also impact family, work, and emotional well-being. Risa’s goal is to guide patients through their healthcare journey with clarity, compassion, and teamwork, making sure they feel seen as whole people, not just medical cases.

After 30 years in medicine, Risa joined think to return to part-time clinical work while continuing to teach at the College of Saint Mary. She is motivated by a desire to keep strong, meaningful connections with her patients, the same relationships that inspired her to enter medicine. Risa values think’s approach to accessible, patient-centered care that focuses on whole-person health, allowing her to remain involved in direct patient care and to continue supporting high-quality, compassionate services.

Patients describe Risa as a caring leader who communicates clearly and ensures that both patients and their families feel understood and supported. Throughout her career, she has focused on building trust through genuine human connection, whether by sharing a story from her hometown, talking about family, or finding common ground. She always treats patients as people first, not just as diagnoses.

Risa is married and has three adult children. Her appreciation for family, community, and service influences her work. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones and hopes to travel around the Mediterranean Sea one day to explore its cultures, history, and landscapes.
